If you got a chance to catch the Balenciaga exhibit at the Spanish Institute in New York, lucky you. For those of you in San Francisco, get thee to the de Young in haste!—as Monday is closing day.
The dress above was my favorite. By the end of Balenciaga’s career, he had invented a fabric called Gazaar (which Girl Crush contributor Nozlee is obsessed with). Gazaar was especially stiff and could maintain its shape despite or perhaps because of Balenciaga’s manipulations with the needle. Obviously, Balenciaga himself doesn’t quite fit into the girl crush category, but my obsession with the Spanish couturier seemed worth sharing with everyone here. —Thessaly
